Mountain Rituals

All of us in mountain life have our own tried-and-true rituals and traditions. Here’s what the Julbo crew has to offer.

What We Do Before Every Send

MOUNTAIN RITUALS

For skiers, riders, climbers, and mountaineers, the mountain isn’t just a place—it’s a lifestyle. And every lifestyle comes with its own rituals. Before a big day on the hill, we all have those must-do habits that set the tone and make the experience feel complete.

Here are the mountain rituals the Julbo team swears by—our go-to routines before sending it into a full day outside.

Before a Big Mountain Day

Sunrise Coffee

Every great mountain day starts the same way: with coffee. But for us, it’s not just about caffeine—it’s about catching that quiet sunrise before the world wakes up. There’s something grounding about sipping a hot cup of Joe while the sky turns pink over the peaks.

Whether you’re solo, with your partner, or rolling deep with weekend crew energy, sunrise coffee sets the tone. It’s slow, intentional, and the perfect warm-up for whatever the mountain throws your way.

Weather & Conditions Check

No mountain ritual is complete without a conditions check. Before you gear up, you have to know what kind of day you’re heading into—bluebird skies, low clouds, fresh snow, gusty winds, or all of the above.

Our rule? Always check the weather report, avalanche forecast, and lift updates before you leave the house. And if you’re rocking a REACTIV photochromic lens, you already know you’re covered from low light to full sun—no matter how quickly conditions change.

Your Pre-Ski Checklist

Gear & Layer Check

Proper prep can make or break a day on the mountain. That’s why our team always runs through a quick gear checklist before heading out:

  • Goggles, helmet, gloves, and layers
  • Snacks and hydration
  • Tools, wax, or last-minute board/ski touch-ups

Dialing in your layering system is huge too. Getting up the hill only to realize you forgot a mid-layer or didn’t pack extra gloves? Rookie move. A little prep goes a long way.

The Real Start Of The Day

Parking Lot Prep

The mountain day officially begins in the parking lot. This is where the ritual becomes real: boots on, playlists blasting, bags shuffled, goggles wiped, and final adjustments dialed in.

You chat through which trails to hit first. You throw in a couple more sips of coffee. You run that one last gear check. You take that first breath of crisp air that wakes you up more than the caffeine did.

The parking lot ritual sets the energy for the day—and we’re here for it.

Send It Your Way

Whatever mountain rituals you stick to this season, we hope you get out there and send it. We’re endlessly inspired by this community of skiers, riders, and outdoor lovers who share the same passion for the peaks.
