As winter descends and the mountains beckon, it's time to pull your gear from storage and take inventory of what needs upgrading. Among the most important pieces of equipment are your goggles- not only do they protect your eyes from harsh winds and UV rays, but they can also protect your eyes from an errant tree branch or during an unfortunate tumble.
Ski goggle technology has made considerable strides in recent years, including the introduction of photochromic lenses. Photochromic lenses lighten and darken based on ambient UV light, erasing the need to "deal with" squinting and straining your eyes, or carrying an additional lens in your jacket. All Julbo REACTIV lenses are photochromic, and are like having 4, or even 5 lenses in one!
What Makes Julbo's reactiv photochromic lenses different?
Photochromic lenses are becoming more common, but not all photochromic lenses are created equal.
Here are the top reasons to consider Julbo's REACTIV lenses:
Photochromic lenses that never degrade
The reacting, photochromic layer of our lens is an internal layer of the lens, rather than an external film. This results in a photochromic lens that never degrades over time, meaning your lens will never stop reacting. In fact, the photochromic transition of your lens is backed by our lifetime warranty!
Fastest Reaction Time
Our REACTIV goggle lenses are made with our winter formula, meaning the lenses are non-temperature sensitive, and darken in about 30 seconds when exposed to UV- much quicker than the industry standard.
Stronger, lighter lenses
Our REACTIV lenses are made from Trivex, a lens material that offers greater visual clarity and strength compared to polycarbonate lenses.
A general guide to sizing
A well-fitting goggle is key to all-day comfort on the mountain. Goggle sizing can be somewhat subjective, but a general rule of thumb is that helmet size corresponds to goggle frame size.
If you wear an XS or S helmet, you will most likely find our medium goggle to be most comfortable. If you wear a M helmet, you will most likely fit into both M and L goggles*, and it will come down to your preference if you like a larger or smaller fitting goggle. If you wear a size L or XL helmet, you will most likely find our size L goggles to fit most comfortably.

Launcher
The Launcher is Julbo's newest goggle hot off the press for Winter 24/25. The Launcher is a size large, and is the first goggle to offer our proprietary Super Flow Pro technology in a cylindrical lens. The XL lens gives this goggle the largest field of vision in our collection, and an ergonomic nose cutout provides a universal fit and all-day comfort.
Lightyear + Lightyear OTG
New last season, the size-large Lightyear debuted Julbo's new Super Flow Pro in a cylindrical lens; a robust redesign of our original Super Flow system found on the Aerospace goggle. In addition to the standard model, you'll find the Lightyear available in an OTG, or "over-the-glasses" model. Those who wear glasses rave that when their eyeglasses fog under their goggles, popping open the Super Flow Pro quickly clears fog and condensation.
Razor Edge
Another addition to the lineup in 2023, the size-large Razor Edge features a cylindrical XL photochromic lens, an extra-wide silicone lined strap, and an ergonomic nose cutout. The Razor Edge was aptly named for its angular frame near the nose bridge designed to maximize vertical vision, and reduce goggle frame obstructing your field of view.
Cyrius
The Cyrius is a long time staple in Julbo's goggle lineup. Measuring in at a size large with a large cylindrical lens to match, the Cyrius is a premium workhorse to match everyone's styling. Like the look of the Cyrius but need a smaller size? Check out the Cyclon!
Shadow
Another tried and true staple of Julbo's goggle line up is the Shadow. The Shadow features a medium fit, spherical lens, and silicone-lined strap. Don't let the smaller size fool you- the spherical lens gives this goggle a great field of vision. The Shadow offers similar styling to the Lightyear, but is a size smaller and does not offer SuperFlow Pro.
