l bought these glasses for my Arctic ski traverses and the bad days (check “Always Forward Youtube”). l got them on offer for less than $100 so l immediately pulled the trigger, if only to try them.
l've been using Julbo glasses for the past 10 years ('Spectron lenses') and decided to try their 'photochromatic' lenses. l'm very pleased. l can see this to be useful for people who are often in and out of places.
For my particular application, a ‘yellow or pink’ tint works best (stormy days, flat light, etc.), but l like these so much that l decided to keep them (l’m now waiting to see if l find the “Rush 1-3 Light Amplifier” on offer or to see if Julbo gives me a discount after reading this 😉
The Rush sunglasses offer more protection (especially for the cheeks) than other sunglasses l’ve had from Julbo (e.g. “Aero”). That’s a benefit when you have the Arctic wind hitting your face (for reference, at around 15m/s l usually switch to goggles).
For the city, you make look a bit 'funny,' but l'm 45 and l can't care less about what you think about me or my looks. Life is too short ;-)
The glasses are so bloody good that you'd think you see better with them on. Crazy, but true, no kidding.
Julbo, l need the “Rush 1-3 Light Amplifier” under $100 please. Come on, help me have a better winter in 2025.

These glasses get smudges very easily. I suspect the anti fog layer is to blame. On the trail, it is impossible to wash them.

As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, I recently bought a pair of glasses with reaction lenses, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. These lenses are designed to automatically adjust to changing light conditions, which means they can go from clear to dark and vice versa in a matter of seconds.
One of the most significant advantages of these lenses is that they eliminate the need to carry multiple pairs of glasses. Whether you're hiking in the woods, cycling on a sunny day, climbing, or simply running errands, these lenses can adapt to whatever lighting conditions you encounter. This is particularly useful for someone like me who is always on the go and doesn't want to have to worry about swapping out glasses. I'm also a climbing instructor and I do like to have eye contact with my students. The transition from clear to dark and back again is smooth and quick, and I didn't notice any noticeable lag or delay. The lenses also provide excellent protection from UV rays, which is essential for maintaining healthy eyesight over time, especially here in the desert of Utah.
One minor drawback to these lenses is that they tend to be slightly more expensive than traditional lenses. However, given their versatility and convenience, I think they are well worth the investment.
